Have you ever been afraid to share a message or write a book? That's what we cover in today's episode.
After Natasha and Rich wrapped up the Unstoppable Author speaker workshop in Franklin, Tennessee for an amazing two-day workshop, author speaker workshop, featuring the legendary Don Hutson number one New York times bestselling co-author hall of fame speaker and yours truly got to speak on day two, all about becoming an unstoppable author.
And one of the interesting things that came from that two day event and the day before where Natasha and Rich had their leadership mastermind was the importance of sharing your message. And as people opened up at this workshop, it was clear their was this nervousness that people had to share their message, this feeling like they weren't good enough, somehow that their message wasn't worthy of sharing. So we wanted to bring this conversation to you today and discuss that YOUR MESSAGE MATTERS!

So Natasha, what are we gonna be talking about today? Again, you turn it over to me, even though it was you who laid the groundwork for today's episode, but all right, I'll let you have this one.
[00:01:07] So we just wrapped up the unstoppable author speaker workshop in Franklin, Tennessee. Almost said Boise after nine years of doing so many workshops in Boise, but alas, we were down south in beautiful Franklin, Tennessee for an amazing two-day workshop, author speaker workshop, featuring the legendary Don Hudson number one New York times bestselling co-author hall of fame speaker and yours truly got to speak on day two, all about becoming an unstoppable author.
[00:01:39] And one of the interesting things that came from. That two day event. And really the day before where we had our leadership mastermind, which was so much fun with our inner circle members, it was the importance of sharing your message. And as people opened up at this workshop, it was a very intimate workshop with about 20, 25 people there.
[00:02:06] It was this nervousness. To share their message, this feeling like they weren't good enough, somehow that their message wasn't worthy of sharing. And part of the actual workshop experience was that they prepared vignettes, where they shared a small story about something that they wanted to share in front of them.
[00:02:31] And I loved that, you know, there, all of the women did an amazing job and you could just see how nervous they were. And there were tears shed by the audience members, as they're listening to these messages, there was Rawkus. Laughter. Is that how you say it? Am I right. Yeah. And it was, it was so amazing. It also the anticipation and buildup of some of the people that were preparing to submit their influencer talks, uh, their videos to be considered to speak at the unstoppable one foot summit coming up in October.
[00:03:11] Right. And that, yeah, that, that's something that we do to feature. Members of our inner circle and members of the author speaker program, they get to submit a 13 minute Ted talk like, and it was it's. They have submitted it. We have 16 people that have auditioned for six spots at the summit, which by the way, October 7th, eighth, and ninth, you can get all the information@unstoppableinfluencesummit.com.
[00:03:41] And it's just so interesting how. Many people feel like their story doesn't matter. That it's just me who would want to hear from me, or I'm not a professional speaker or I'm not a professional author. And the thing is everyone starts somewhere. Like no one comes out the womb, like a professional author.
[00:04:05] I mean, I think, uh, and, or a professional speaker. Everyone starts at square one. And I remember many years ago I saw a motivational video and one of the lines in it was stop trying to be all things to all people and just focus on being someone to somebody. And I really think that that's what it all comes down to because you matter, and your experience matters.
[00:04:38] No, never before and never again, will there ever be another you and the way that you have done life and the way that experiences have unfolded and lessons that you've learned, even in the messy middle can serve as an operator's manual and instruction guide for someone else. Yeah. That reminds me of something that you said when you were speaking at the workshop, you were, you were saying that the people.
[00:05:06] There were the foremost experts on their own story. Right. And so you like using your own blueprint, your own life experience as a blueprint for how to do things or how. You might navigate a certain life circumstance. Those people have that have gone through and are trying to share some message that they experienced, you know, they are the experts in their own journey.
[00:05:34] So that's an interesting, you know, point you were making. Yeah. And you know, sometimes we're just called to be a vessel from our creator who inspires us. Gives us that insight, that wisdom, that intuition within that says, write the book or give the talk and you sit down and the words just start to flow.
[00:05:59] And I like to think that it's coming from a divine source and sometimes. You just need to be described. You just need to be the one that speaks the words. And I can't tell you the number of times that I've done a Facebook live or even a podcast, and people have reached out and said, I love that episode, or I love that Facebook lab was exactly what I needed to hear in that moment.
[00:06:27] And it's such a special time, you know, for an author or a podcast host to hear that because you're like, wow, that thing that I did it, it really mattered. It touched someone and that's what our authors that have published through unstoppable publics. We've had two authors published this year so far, and they both have commented that they were surprised at the positive feedback that they were receiving and how profound, how profound their works changed people's lives.
[00:07:04] And they said, you know, I know you said that Natasha, but. That's you and that's your book? Well, I felt the same way. I mean, I remember when one of my beta readers said, God, my life has been so changed from reading your words. And this was actually a beta reader that I didn't know beforehand. So they weren't just telling me what they thought I wanted to hear.
[00:07:27] And so I think that a lot of times before we give the talk, before we. The words on the page we have built up in our mind. It doesn't matter. My words don't matter. I'm not a great writer. I'm not a professional speaker. Like you have all of these forces within you that are trying to keep you from doing the thing that will really impact.
[00:07:56] The most amount of lives. And then all of a sudden when you get through and bust through that fear barrier, and we've talked about that on, on the podcast, you get to see, oh, that's right. My words do matter and my experiences do matter and they can really help someone. In their time of need. And so I just want to encourage all, if you've got something on your heart to say whether it's on a podcast or Facebook live or at your homeowners association meeting or whatever.
[00:08:30] Oh, no, take away from those. Just say the words, just speak the words, do the thing, you know, one of the things that people. Get hung up on is like you were saying about not feeling like they're the expert or they're good enough. And so it always comes back down to like one of the things I always say a great way to break through that is to change the focus from shining the light on yourself to shining the light on the people that you want to serve.
[00:09:03] But when you mentioned that you. Are writing, like as someone who wrote a book that sometimes it feels like you're just kinda like, it's like coming to you, like channeled to you or whatever. If you do find yourself kind of in a state where it's not flowing for you like that, what do you have some tips for how to kind of break through that?
[00:09:23] Well, the first thing I would say is to check your environment. Are you writing with a cluttered desk? Are you writing with a stack of things on your to-do list? Are you in a, in a space that's going to be conducive for the flow of writing a talk or writing a book. And the second thing is to ask for guidance, say, you know, I'm willing, I'm willing to speak the words I'm willing to write the words.
[00:09:51] I'm ready and get ready. And the third thing that I would say. If you're stuck in flow and you're, and then it's just not flowing is sometimes it may just not be the right time. It's have you tried those other couple of things and maybe you need to go for a walk. Maybe you need to, I don't know, listen to a podcast or.
[00:10:13] Yo just get yourself in a different space because there are sometimes, and I shared this at the workshop where I was trying to, I was trying to write something as a big project and it just would not flow. And I had carved out time. I remember on a Friday and I sat down and my desk was beautiful and I had my essential oils go in and I had my music and I was like in the perfect place.
[00:10:39] And I started to write and I was like, this is just not working. And I realized in that moment, it wasn't the time. And so I remember I got help for the kids. I told you all right, rich Saturday is my day. You're like, all right, all hands on deck. And then the person that is going to help with the kids was sick.
[00:11:00] And I was, and I felt in my spirit, you know, this is a family day, not the data. Right. So I was like, all right, I guess I'm not riding on Saturday either. And then I woke up on Sunday. And I realized I've got three hours and those three hours is going to come and I knew it. So I went and I sat down and because of some different things that I had been listening to, and I'd been praying about it.
[00:11:26] Man, it came fast, it came furious and it was done, done and done in just a few hours. So that's awesome. Yeah. So, you know, just know that sometimes it might not, it, it may not flow cause it's just not the right time. No, that there reminds of it kind of like being in college and having like a looming.
[00:11:47] Research paper that has to be done. Part of it is like you, sometimes you just aren't ready to write until you just have to, you know, like I was always one of those ones that. Found inspiration the day before it was due. Why does that not surprise me?
[00:12:08] Well, one of the things that really struck me and this happened really recently, and this might actually shock some of y'all, but I want to talk about vulnerability. Now you might think that once you're vulnerable, you're always going to be cool with being vulnerable. And I have to tell you that that is definitely not the case.
[00:12:28] And when you're giving a talk, when you're sharing your message in written or spoken words, there is this a lot of times you're going to be called to be vulnerable. And it is always for me, anytime I'm vulnerable in a talk or. Writing. I always have to walk through that fear barrier. I always feel uncomfortable.
[00:12:53] And it's funny that a couple of weeks ago I was at coffee shop in our neighborhood. And I mentioned that I had written a book. And so one of, one of our neighbors said, oh man, I really like to check out your book. I said, oh, well, you know what? I just got some, some about. Take a few books over to our local bookstore landmark books.
[00:13:17] So you whipped out your credit card reader and sold one on the spot. And fact, I, I, I had one at home and so the next day I, I brought it to him and I assigned it and I had to walk through the fear barrier because. I, this was really vulnerable, you know, and I thought to myself, why am I feeling nervous?
[00:13:41] Like we're probably getting close to 20,000 people that have read my words. And so why would I care if the neighbor reads the book that all these other thousands of people have already read? Like, it's my story. And yet I still felt so nervous. I mean, I felt like I was like standing on the sidewalk naked or something as I gave him this book and they ended up loving it and, and it made me feel so good to know that that my words touched them, but it didn't, it didn't come without me feeling uncomfortable.
[00:14:17] And so I just want to acknowledge that for those of you. That you've you've really wanted to write something or you really wanted to share a message and you've just been stopping yourself because it just feels so scary and nerve wracking. And you've your stomach is flip-flopping. I'm here to tell you it's completely normal.
[00:14:38] So the moral of the story is just sell your book to strangers on the internet. Yeah.
[00:14:45] Don't give it to your neighbor. That is not the moral of the story. Cause all those people are someone's neighbors. Right? So if that's what stopping you, I just, I just want you to think about what happens if your words change your life, what happens if, how you navigated your life and your difficult circumstances or your challenges?
[00:15:10] What if that really helped someone else, is that worth it, it comes back to what you always say. Rich, take the focus off of yourself. Stop worrying about how, how nervous you feel, how vulnerable you feel, how scared you are, and start focusing on someone else and what they need to hear. Because you matter your words matter.
[00:15:34] You were given these experiences. To grow yourself and to help others grow as well. And so I really just, I just want to encourage you today, write the book, speak the words, do the thing, because there are people that are waiting for you. You know, we've got a stack of amazing testimonials and stories from people who read your book and how.
[00:16:01] Tremendous life changes and people that were contemplating suicide and all kinds of things that have that are really it's, it's pretty heavy to read some of the, some of the comments and to know that people were affected and impacted in such a deep way. Yeah. I mean that, yeah, that was, that was one that was really big, uh, how it saved a marriage I've people who have come from the outside.
[00:16:30] The depths of grief, people that have re have started to crawl out of the depths of rock bottom after years of abuse. And when you were writing your book, you're not thinking about like all the, the things like that. So it's, it is. It's just imagine if you hadn't have taken the action, you know, so it's, it's it's who knows how you can change people's lives.
[00:16:55] Giving them the story they need to hear at the precise moment. They needed to hear it. Yeah. You got me. I'm actually tearing up over here. And, and when you say those words, rich, this is what fuels me. This is why I'm so passionate about telling people and teaching people and empowering people to speak their words, because I understand I've seen firsthand.
[00:17:23] How someone like me, I didn't feel like I was qualified to write a book. I didn't think that my story really mattered. And I certainly, if you had told me five years ago, what my words would do for people, I would have said, there's no way you're talking about the wrong girl. There's no way, you know, I haven't studied personal development.
[00:17:45] 15 years. I'm not a professional speaker. I'm not a, this and none of that I would have given you all the reasons why I wasn't qualified. And yet, you know, I firmly believe that a creator qualifies the unqualified. And so if you feel led to write a book, you're supposed to write the book. If you feel led to give a talk to share a message, because it needs to be done.
[00:18:10] And someone needs to hear it. And you can't, you, you don't see it. You don't understand it. You, you don't know who needs it. You don't probably don't even know the person that needs it. And yet none of that matters because there's, there's a planet play. And so we've all gotta do our part to make the world a better place.
