Key Points Discussed

NATASHA: [00:01:12] It is the anniversary of me leaving my full time job as a practicing attorney and launching head first into our business and life as an entrepreneur

RICHARD: [00:03:22] you know what I'm saying? You definitely in your mind think if I just could just spend more time than it would honestly. Speed up so much. And I mean, while we were making great progress

NATASHA: [00:06:09] We need some level of variety. And I mean, we were even talking about, you were saying today that you are gonna  you know, it's easier to say no to a particular opportunity and stay in the current routine

RICHARD: [00:08:43] Well, you know, it's funny. You said choose yourself.

NATASHA: [00:13:39] It really is.. And you know, and all those people, they felt the fear. Oh my gosh. I mean, every single one of them I've had the conversation of, oh my gosh, I'm so nervous. I feel like I've poured my heart and soul into this book and it's raw and it's vulnerable and I'm going to put it out there.

[00:00:23] NATASHA: [00:00:23] and I'm Natasha Hayzlett. If you're ready to experience abundance in all areas of your life, then you're in the right place. Each week on this podcast, we're going to share with you the tools we've used to help thousands of people find their purpose and live their life by design.

[00:00:38] RICHARD: [00:00:38] So if You're ready to start the journey head over to design your best life.com and download your clarity roadmap. When this episode is over.

[00:00:48] Hey, everybody. Welcome to the design, your best life podcast. I'm Richard Hayzlett and this is episode 21, Natasha. What's going on today.

[00:00:57] NATASHA: [00:00:57] Well It occurred to me that [00:01:00] tomorrow is a really big day. Obviously we record these podcasts a few days in advance and tomorrow, August 1st is a really special day for the two of us

[00:01:12] RICHARD: [00:01:12] what is that?

[00:01:12] NATASHA: [00:01:12] It is the anniversary of me leaving my full time job as a practicing attorney and launching head first into our business and life as an entrepreneur. With no net, you know, it's, the anniversary is nine years of choosing to bet on ourselves and believing in ourselves and going full steam ahead nine years. That's a long time. So it made me start thinking about how scary it is for most people is scary for oh, scary for me. Was it scary for you? What were you thinking when, you know, on the day that we were like, we had a party, we had a bunch of people to come and came and celebrate.

[00:01:57] RICHARD: [00:01:57] Well I thought it was amazing so.

[00:01:59] NATASHA: [00:01:59] So you weren't [00:02:00] scared at all? No fear, .

[00:02:02]RICHARD: [00:02:02] Of course not.

[00:02:02]NATASHA: [00:02:02] You are so full of

[00:02:05]RICHARD: [00:02:05] Don't you know, what is it, Napoleon Hill's book, outwitting, the devil, he says fear is the it's the tool of the devil.

[00:02:11] NATASHA: [00:02:11] Well, I agree with that 100% but, for me. I mean, you're a guy, so I mean, like, even if you were. Had any level of fear, you're not going to be telling about it on the podcast.

[00:02:21] RICHARD: [00:02:21] Okay. Let's just say uncertainty. Might've been crossing my mind at, at some point in time, but of course I was gung ho about the whole thing. Cause I mean, I had already dived in to the full time world of all this and was, it was working feverishly to make sure that you could do the same and we could embark on this full-time journey together. And so it was definitely you know interesting. When we were able to join forces with all of our efforts, you know, what's it, what's also interesting about that is like you think, oh, if I just could spend more time, things would [00:03:00] exponentially be so much they would move forward so much more, but it isn't like, you know, we immediately made, I mean, there were, there was something that happened that was immediate, but you know, it took when both of us started working together. It was still a lot of work to get the Boulder up to the top of the hill before he started getting the momentum going.

[00:03:20]NATASHA: [00:03:20] Is the Boulder even at the top of the hill? No. I mean,

[00:03:22] RICHARD: [00:03:22] you know what I'm saying? You definitely in your mind think if I just could just spend more time than it would honestly. Speed up so much. And I mean, while we were making great progress, it's kind of like your kids growing up, you sit there and see them every day. And so you don't really necessarily notice what's how much they're growing. But when a family member comes, maybe six months after they haven't been around and they come visit and they're like, wow, you look so much taller, you know? So you are making progress. It just sometimes feels like. It's going a lot slower than it is.

[00:03:56] NATASHA: [00:03:56] Yeah, for sure. And you know, I want to take it back a step because [00:04:00] what you're talking about is, heck we may end up doing a whole other episode on this, additionally, but I want to take it back to the day. That was my last day as an employee, because you know, a lot of people think, gosh, Natasha, you were so certain about this and I want to make it super clear that I was still sweating bullets. I still, my heart was pounding out of my chest and you know, we have to feel the fear and do it anyway. There, there are no guarantees. This was something where I had to step out in faith. I had to. Lean in to my support system. And this is where I'm sure you all have seen that meme on social media. And it was like, this is your comfort zone. And it's this like little circle. And then it says outside of the circle, it says, this is where all the magic happens. And you know, as I look back every [00:05:00] single year on August 1st, I am reminded. Of truly how all the magic exists. All the miracles exist outside of your comfort zone. Like there isn't a day that goes by, or, oh, I should say a week that goes by. Making a decision that makes me feel uncomfortable. If there's one thing that I'm comfortable with it being uncomfortable. And so I just, I want to encourage y'all on this special anniversary episode, we're going to call it the anniversary episode to feel the fear and do it anyway. What's something that you had on your heart that you want to do that makes you. Nervous. What's the thing that scares you do the thing that must be done

[00:05:46] RICHARD: [00:05:46] Well you know, as we get older and older, we kind of get set more in our routines and our ways in, and so having variety, the spice of life is something that's going to enhance your. [00:06:00] Lifestyle. And so if something does make you a little bit uncomfortable, then that's a good sign. That's probably a good opportunity for growth.

[00:06:09] NATASHA: [00:06:09] Absolutely. Well, I mean, variety, I think is one of the core human needs. We need some level of variety. And I mean, we were even talking about, you were saying today that you are gonna  you know, it's easier to say no to a particular opportunity and stay in the current routine. You literally just told me that like two seconds before we started this episode, right. You're like, well, it makes me feel uncomfortable to do this thing. And so I know that's exactly what I need to do. And I love that. I mean, that's where. The magic happens. That's where all the miracles happened. It's behind that door that you're so afraid to open. And the reality is that the resources, the individuals, the friendships, the relationships, all of those things that are. Awaiting you on the other side of yes. [00:07:00] And you know, that's one of the things I am just so passionate about teaching in unstoppable influence is getting outside of your comfort zone and helping people with a lot of the tools that they need to just say yes, but at some point, you know, I was just on a training and I think it might've been an academy group coaching call. And I said like, here's the thing. There's never going to be a time when you're stepping outside of your comfort zone, that you don't feel that twinge of nervousness, whether it's the butterflies in your stomach or an overwhelming feeling of nausea or you all of a sudden start profusely sweating, or your heart is beating. That's what tells you, oh, here you go. You're you are hitting this. Fear barrier and you're about to bust through that fear barrier. And so I just feel it and I'm like, great, cool. That's my sign that I'm stepping outside of my comfort zone. And then I do it. And all of a sudden, I start to see how powerful I am, how capable I am. I start to see the blessings that are stepping on the other [00:08:00] side. And I don't, I do not allow fear to stop me because, you know, as you said, I didn't know that Napoleon hill says fear is a tool of devil. And I totally believe that, you know, I mean, I am. Right now I'm reading a devotional called faith over fear. And that is one of the main themes throughout the entire hundred days is that fear is a tool to stop you from realizing your potential. And so when you focus on the fear. Focus on being scared. It's obscuring the amazingness that is behind that. And so, you know, that's something that I just want to encourage all listening today. Choose yourself.

[00:08:43] RICHARD: [00:08:43] Well, you know, it's funny. You said choose yourself. Because I was literally about to say something about choose yourself because choose yourself was a book title by James  and it was a book that I read, right. around around that time. I'm not sure exactly when it came out, but it seems like it was right [00:09:00] around the time that you were quitting your job. I can't remember when it came out. Exactly, but the notion of betting on yourself. You know, he even talks about like self publishing books and all the different things. And so by the time you were ready to quit your job, not only had I been listening to a lot of personal development, people talking about getting out of your comfort zone, but also for years and years, being around successful people in network marketing and listening to. Trainers talking about the problems with the lack of job security and the trends that were happening in corporate America with layoffs and downsizing and getting, you know, when people are superannuated and getting they're too old and they let them go. And they're, you know, they replace people with younger, all those things. I never had a problem believing. That it would be a safer route for us to bet on ourselves than it would be to bet on some other [00:10:00] force outside of us, like a corporation to provide a job for us, you know, or, you know, having a quote unquote secure job. I didn't see that in the same paradigm that a lot of people who were questioning what we were doing and scared, they were letting their fear dictate and put on to us, their fear. About, uh, you know, that's like, that's not a wise decision. That's irresponsible and it's, and it's could lead to big problems and stuff, but like I never believed. That, in that false sense of security, because, you know, I remember having a job when the financial crisis in I don't remember 2008, 2007 ish, 2008 or whatever, the housing crisis. And I remember waking. The, you know, when all the stuff, the market crashed and these old financial firms are going out of business in like our biggest client, one of the largest clients that our company was general motors. And [00:11:00] I mean, they were in a terrible situation. So literally every day going into work, everyone was just wondering like, oh, you know, are we still gonna have a job? Are we still gonna have a job? And so like literally the environment of being in that office and knowing that everyone there was questioned. How long they were going to be able to keep their job. And we just basically picked up and moved across the country right in the middle of while that was still going on. We were like, all right, well, we're just going to go do something different. And you know, it was a big risk, but it, you know, it was definitely something, you know, talk about being an uncomfortable. Situation that, that we just went for because that's what we wanted to do rather than letting fear hold us back.

[00:11:42] NATASHA: [00:11:42] And thank goodness we did. We ended up, you know, making incredible friends, starting an amazing tribe and Boise shout out to all of our friends in Idaho. You know, our business started to thrive. We made contacts that I know that we never would have made me most likely would have never made those [00:12:00] contacts. Have we not we not taking that big leap of faith and having that faith? Be greater than our, our fears and our concerns and fears. Totally natural. Right. And separable influence. It says be you be fearless. Transform lives and truly, it's not just fear less. It's more being able to master the fear to feel the fear and do it anyway.

[00:12:22] RICHARD: [00:12:22] One of the things that's really been empowering for, I guess, well, I would say one of the things that's been gratifying as a business owner, working with people that are doing things that that are. Taking them out of their comfort zone. It has been watching the transformations that have occurred from people that have come into the community and just totally thrived and transformed their lives to go from, you know, maybe just getting laid off of their job that they thought that was going to be safe. And then having to pivot and figure out a new way that they can rely on themselves and new [00:13:00] skills that they've learned and then grown a six figure business or a seven figure business or an eight figure business. And so that's been really amazing. And also with even just our author program where we've had several people. Been working on or published their first books, which is an amazing first book is a huge accomplishment, you know, getting that out there. And so like people being able to see the transformation from it, just being an idea that is, you know, in their head to actually holding a book in your hand that is know, and you were a part of like that whole journey. It's really, that's really fulfilling

[00:13:39] NATASHA: [00:13:39] It really is.. And you know, and all those people, they felt the fear. Oh my gosh. I mean, every single one of them I've had the conversation of, oh my gosh, I'm so nervous. I feel like I've poured my heart and soul into this book and it's raw and it's vulnerable and I'm going to put it out there. And I [00:14:00] watch these women bust through that fear barrier. And then they start getting the comments from the reader. This totally changed my life. This is exactly what I'm navigating. Thank you so much for sharing and all of them, without exception are coming back and saying. I see why you kept saying that. I'm so glad I did this. I'm so glad I put myself out there because there are people, there were people waiting for me.

[00:14:26]RICHARD: [00:14:26] Yeah. And some of the comments are like, I feel like you were writing this just for me.

[00:14:30] NATASHA: [00:14:30] That's right. And so, you know, I just want to encourage you today. This is something to just a little assignment. Think about what is something. That has been placed on your heart to do, because I want you to know that this thing that's been placed on your heart. I firmly believe that it's something that's been divinely placed. There is a reason it's not random. There is something for you there. And so I want to encourage you [00:15:00] to think of that thing. Write that thing down, set a deadline. I'm going to do this thing and take the first action step towards doing. The thing that you said you were going to do? Know That when you feel that fear, that's just you hitting up against that fear barrier, do it bust through it, and then once you bust through it, I want you to write down what it felt like to go through it and start to take note of the miracles as Basil King once says my favorite quote of all time. That thing has to be all right. Fine. Top three, be both. And mighty forces will come to your aid. As soon as you bust through that fear barrier, you're going to see the amazingness that exists for you on the other side of that fear.

[00:15:48] RICHARD: [00:15:48] And just as an addition to that assignment, if you think back to the three most incredible experiences of your life, and then think about [00:16:00] how you got to the point where you were able to experience those, there's a good chance. That You had to step out of your comfort zone to get into a position to experience those.

[00:16:10] NATASHA: [00:16:10] Ooh, that is so good.

[00:16:12] RICHARD: [00:16:12] So just as a reference, you know, so to, to remind yourself that, you know, we can't it's sometimes it's easier to look back at our highlight reel, and kind of deconstruct what we had to do in order to, to allow us to be able to, to see, yes, this will lead to those amazing experiences.

[00:16:32] NATASHA: [00:16:32] So good. What a right, as you're saying that I'm going through that and I'm like, yep. Check, check. That's good stuff. Well, thanks so much for joining. Today and we'll look forward to sharing some more gold with y'all on the next episode.

[00:16:50] RICHARD: [00:16:50] Alright everybody, Thanks for listening.
